The Posadas town hall and Nexwell Power sign a cooperation agreement to promote solar energy in educational centers
The Hon. Town Hall of Posadas, Spain has signed a cooperation agreement with Nexwell Power to promote the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) through self-consumption of electricity while boosting the objective of the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan 2021-2030 of the Government of Spain.
The cooperation agreement seeks to promote solar energy generation from renewable energy sources as well as other energy efficiency initiatives in educational centers in the municipal area of Posadas.
This agreement is part of a pilot project centered around the installation of an 11.5 KWp self-generation facility on the roof of Public-School Nuestra Señora de la Salud. The solar facility is expected to generate approximately 40% of annual savings in electricity costs to the school while producing 18.738 kWh and avoiding 3.560 kg CO2 during its first year of production.
The production parameters of the facility will be monitored by means of electronic devices, which will provide graphic and numeric real-time information of key indicators such as consumption and hours of operation. The obtained data will serve as an educational tool in the training courses that will be provided annually by Nexwell Power to town hall operators and interested citizens.
Importantly, the agreement calls for 80% of the savings generated by the facility to be reinvested into the Posadas community during the first four years, prioritizing benefit realization for the local population. After four years, the Town Hall of Posadas will apply the electricity savings to similar causes.
This project forms part of Nexwell Power’s social responsibility objectives in which it seeks to create a world where climate change is no longer a problem, and the local communities are key players in implementing the solutions. “Today is a great day for Nexwell Power given that this cooperation agreement allows us to realize our commitment to the environment in terms of actual avoided emissions. At the same time, the agreement is also a sign of our engagement with the community by bringing technology closer to educational centers to help raise awareness of the importance of renewable energy sources for electricity generation”, said Andreas Mustad, CEO of Nexwell Power.
