Nexwell Power energizes 6,63MW of its Badajoz Power Plant

The electricity produced by this plant should be enough to serve the needs of more than 4,000 households

LONDON, U.K. October 2024. Nexwell Power announces the energization of its Badajoz (6,63MWp) solar Project located in the municipality of Badajoz, Extremadura.

With the interconnection of the 6.63MW plant, the company energizes the third plant of the Iberia Solar II portfolio, consisting of seven projects with a total capacity of 46MW located in Extremadura and Andalusia.

The project is attached to another already energized last September and of the same Iberia Solar II portfolio, Corte de Peleas (6,63MW) which have been developed together and before scheduled with the construction of the evacuation line of 20 kV.

The plant will produce electricity to serve the needs of more than 4,000 households and is foreseen to prevent over 5,500 metric tons of CO2 emissions in its first year of operation alone. This achievement aligns with Nexwell Power’s broader strategy of accelerating the reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere in more than 1 billion tons.

Among the actions carried out by the company to favor the biodiversity of the area are the reservation of 20% of the land of the project for the conservation of steppe birds as well as the radio-monitoring of Bonelli's Eagle and the Blue-Elaniym, the placement of two nesting boxes for kestrels, a reptile refuge and fences with livestock exclusion with the objective of favoring the creation of a biological corridor in which both plant and animal communities develop, thus providing an additional incentive for biodiversity.
