Nexwell Power energizes 13MW of its Merida and Corte de Peleas Power Plants
The first two projects of Iberia Solar II portfolio producing electricity
LONDON, U.K. August 2024. Nexwell Power announces the energization of its Mérida (6,63MWp) and Corte de Peleas (6,63MWp) solar power projects located in Badajoz, Spain.
Construction began in September 2023 and was led by Osmos Sistemas Eléctricos, leader in global electrical services in Spain in a joint venture with Vázquez y Reino. Rabobank, a Dutch bank with important cooperative roots and focused on innovation, growth and sustainability signed a financial agreement for a total amount of €37 million for the portfolio of seven new plants with a total power capacity of 46MWp –including these two-, located in Andalusia and Extremadura.

Accelerating innovative low-cost renewable solutions is central to Nexwell Power’s core strategy to displace and reduce CO2 levels while delivering clean, reliable long-term energy to its customers. Avoided CO2 emissions from the Merida and Corte de Peleas projects are projected to exceed 10,900 metric tons in its first full year of operation. The construction of both plants led to the creation of 100 jobs at the peak of the construction period.
The plants have been interconnected before schedule and are selling their electricity. The electricity produced by these projects should be enough to serve the needs of more than 7,700 households.
